Ryan Tannehill could be a top 10 pick in next month’s NFL draft, less than two years after lining up as a receiver for Texas A&M.
Tannehill returned to his old high school position of QB halfway through the 2010 season and caught the attention of NFL scouts despite starting just 19 games behind center for the Aggies.
On Thursday, he worked out for representatives of 22 NFL teams, including Pete Carroll, Joe Philbin and Brad Childress.

McNabb: Redskins A Bad Fit For RG3
Donovan McNabb wonders whether Washington coach Mike Shanahan will be able to get the most out of Robert Griffin III if, as expected, the team drafts the Heisman Trophy winner.
McNabb replied: "No. I say that because a lot of times ego gets too involved when it comes to being in Washington."
Trent Richardson Shines At Alabama's Pro Day
Trent Richardson flashed speed and power at Alabama’s second pro day on Thursday, according to an Associated Press report.
The former Crimson Tide tailback worked out for NFL scouts, general managers and coaches.
Richardson is considered the top running back available and a potential top 5 pick.
Scouts See Luck As Safer Pick Than Griffin
The Colts are trying to add mystery to the first overall selection in next month's NFL Draft, but those around the league believe that Andrew Luck is the clear-cut choice.
That would leave Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III for the Redskins, who traded up with the Rams for the second pick.
Eight NFL coaches and executives were polled at league meetings Tuesday and all of them said they believed Luck would and should be the top pick.
"Luck is just a safer pick," one AFC executive said. "They are both productive, high-quality kids from great families. You can't go wrong with either one. But if you're asking me about whom to take, I have to go with Luck, especially if you're Indianapolis after what they just had with [Peyton] Manning and the awful season they went through.
"Get a guy who you know can play right away. At worst, Luck is going to be a good player who can come in and run the offense from Day 1. ... Griffin might end up being better, no question. He's an amazing athlete. But the learning curve with him is going to be a little longer because of the things he did in college."
Report: Browns Will Visit With Tannehill
The Browns are one of the teams that Ryan Tannehill will visit with before next month's NFL Draft, according to a league source.
After failing to acquire the No. 2 overall pick from the Rams in an effort to select Robert Griffin III, executive Mike Holmgren came out in support of incumbent quarterback Colt McCoy.
NFL Distributes Compensatory 32 Picks To Teams
A total of 32 compensatory picks have been awarded to 15 teams ahead of April's NFL Draft.
A team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks, under the rules for compensatory draft selections.
The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.
Morris Claiborne To Have Wrist Surgery
Morris Claiborne will have surgery on his left wrist on Friday.
Claiborne is thought to be one of the best defensive backs available in the 2012 NFL Draft. RealGM's Jeff Risdon slotted him as the fifth overall pick in his latest mock draft.
He tore a ligament in the wrist during a game against Alabama in November and played the rest of the 2011 season with the injury.
Luck Makes Teammates Shine At Stanford's Pro Day
Projected to go No. 1 overall to the Colts in the draft, Andrew Luck relished the Stanford spotlight for a change Thursday as one of a dozen former Cardinal players who tried to impress more than 125 league scouts and executives.
Of more importance to the QB was making his teammates shine, even if it meant braving the elements on an unseasonably chilly and windy day.
"I think I'm in a very unique position. I feel very fortunate," Luck said.
Redskins Loom As Favorite For No. 2 Pick
There are no shortage of suitors for the second overall pick, which is owned by the Rams, with quarterback Robert Griffin III on the minds of many teams.
Word out of St. Louis indicates that the Redskins are the current leader for the selection.
"The Rams don't deny there are a few "mystery" teams they're talking to, but the two serious contenders remain Cleveland and Washington," writes Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
"And Washington continues to rate as the frontrunner, in part because it's an organization that hasn't been shy about making the big move under owner Dan Snyder."
The Redskins are believed to be willing to trade two first-round picks, but the Rams also want a second-rounder this year.
Injured At Combine, D'Anton Lynn Out 4-6 Weeks
Penn State defensive back D'Anton Lynn worked out at the combine with a torn calf muscle, according to a league source.
Lynn could not finish his combine workout and is expected to work out for NFL scouts in mid-April. He will be sidelined for four to six weeks.
He initially hurt his calf in Penn State's bowl game and never took time off because of Senior Bowl preparation.
